No person, firm, association, or corporation shall engage in the business of tree trimming or tree cutting within the city limits without first having obtained a license from the city.

(a) Before a tree trimmer’s license is issued, the applicant for such license must file and deposit with the city clerk an insurance policy issued by an insurance company authorized to do business in the state; which insurance policy so issued shall provide liability insurance coverage for property damage, personal injury, or death in an amount of not less than $250,000.
(b) The insurance policy shall be effective whether the tree trimming or tree cutting at the time of any accident was being performed by the licensee, his or her agent or employee.
(c) Such policy shall carry an endorsement providing for actual notice to the city of any changes thereof.
(d) The insurance policy shall further provide that it cannot be cancelled until 10 days’ written notice has been filed with the city clerk.
(e) Such license shall be automatically revoked upon receipt of cancellation of such insurance policy.

The annual license fee for each commercial tree trimmer or tree surgeon shall be $25.00 per year, and each such license shall be valid for one year after its date of issuance unless it is revoked.
